Cave Geisse

In 1976, Chilean winemaker Mario Geisse arrived in Brazil to run Moët & Chandon. In the Serra Gaúcha he saw a potential few others saw for quality sparkling wine and, after three years searching for the ideal terroir, he founded Cave Geisse in 1979 in Pinto Bandeira, devoted exclusively to the traditional method.

More than four decades later, Cave Geisse is the international benchmark for Brazilian sparkling wine: Master of Wine Jancis Robinson named it among 15 producers shaping the future of wine, and the family led the creation of the Altos de Pinto Bandeira D.O., Brazil's first denomination of origin exclusively for sparkling wine.

In this escoLITA, Mario Geisse and Rodrigo Geisse tell this story first-hand and lead a tasting of the wines that helped put Brazil on the map of great sparkling wines. After the class, the evening continues at the table with a 6-course tasting menu paired with the wines presented.
